  • Taxes

     •    Control spending before raising taxes.

        •    Fight for greater transparency in how tax dollars are spent.

        •    Encourage growth that pays for itself, not growth that burdens current residents.

        •    Protect our landowners and homeowners from being taxed out of the county they helped build.

  • Collaboration

Strong partnerships between Ellis County and its cities and communities are essential to effective local governance. Our Commissioners must actively engage with municipal and community leaders to address shared challenges such as road maintenance, stray animal control, infrastructure improvements, and responsible development. By working together, we can ensure that solutions are coordinated, efficient, and serve the best interests of all residents across Ellis County.

  • Growth

As the eighth fastest-growing county in the nation, Ellis County faces both tremendous opportunity and important responsibility. We must pursue smart development while preserving the rural values that make our community special. Ellis County is a warm and welcoming place that we are proud to call home. While growth is inevitable, and even necessary, we must guide it in a way that benefits our residents, strengthens our communities, and avoids placing undue strain on our citizens or essential county services.

Taxes

One of the biggest concerns I hear from Ellis County residents is the rising burden of property taxes. Families, farmers, and small business owners are all feeling the squeeze, and it’s clear that hardworking Texans are being asked to do too much while government spending continues to grow.

As a fiscal conservative, I believe in living within our means, both at home and in government. Ellis County must be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. That means prioritizing needs over wants, eliminating waste, and ensuring that every cent collected is put toward essential services that truly benefit our citizens.

Property taxes shouldn’t be a tool for unchecked growth in government. They should reflect fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability. We can’t continue to tax our citizens out of their homes and land, especially when so many are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living.

I believe we can strike a balance. By encouraging smart growth, maintaining efficient county operations, and protecting the rural values that make Ellis County special, we can keep taxes low without sacrificing the quality of essential services like law enforcement, infrastructure, and emergency response.

My commitment is simple:

    •    Control spending before raising taxes.

    •    Fight for greater transparency in how tax dollars are spent.

    •    Encourage growth that pays for itself, not growth that burdens current residents.

    •    Protect our landowners and homeowners from being taxed out of the county they helped build.

Ellis County deserves leadership that respects the taxpayer, leadership that understands that every dollar government spends comes from the hard work of its citizens.

It’s time for local government to tighten its belt just like every family and small business in our county must do. That’s what true fiscal conservatism means.

Collaboration

Strong partnerships between Ellis County and its cities and communities are essential to effective and responsive local governance. No single entity can address the complex challenges of a rapidly growing county alone. Our Commissioners must take a proactive approach in fostering open communication and collaboration with municipal and community leaders to ensure that every corner of Ellis County moves forward together.

By strengthening these relationships, we can more effectively coordinate efforts on shared priorities such as road maintenance, infrastructure investment, public safety, and responsible development. Issues like stray animal control, emergency preparedness, and utility expansion also benefit greatly from county-wide cooperation and resource sharing. When our cities and county governments work together, we avoid duplication of effort, reduce waste, and make smarter use of taxpayer dollars.

Regular dialogue, joint planning sessions, and transparent decision-making will make sure that each community’s unique needs are understood and respected. Collaboration also creates consistency in policies and long-term planning, helping us manage growth in a way that preserves our rural values while embracing the progress that comes with a thriving population.

At the heart of this effort is a shared goal: to improve the quality of life for every resident in Ellis County. By working hand in hand with our local leaders, we can build a stronger, more united county, one that remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family for generations to come.

Development

As the eighth fastest-growing county in the nation, Ellis County stands at a crossroads of opportunity and responsibility. Growth is a sign of progress. It reflects the strength of our communities, the appeal of our way of life, and the hard work of the people who call this county home. But with that growth comes the challenge of maintaining the character and values that make Ellis County truly special.

We must pursue smart development that balances economic opportunity with the preservation of our rural values. Ellis County’s open spaces, strong communities, and family-centered values are what make it unique. As we continue to grow, we must ensure that new development enhances, rather than erodes, the quality of life that residents have worked so hard to build.

That means planning carefully, making sure that our roads, infrastructure, and public services can meet the demands of a growing population. It means working closely with our cities and local leaders to ensure that growth is guided by cooperation, transparency, and foresight. And it means protecting our taxpayers from unnecessary burdens by ensuring that development pays its fair share and does not strain county resources.

Ellis County’s growth should serve our people first, creating opportunities, strengthening our communities, and preserving the welcoming, rural character that defines who we are. By approaching development with wisdom, integrity, and a commitment to our shared values, we can build a future that honors our past and secures prosperity for generations to come.
