Matthew Zajic was born and raised in Ennis, Texas, where he has proudly lived his entire life. A graduate of Ennis High School, Matthew went on to earn his B.A. in Financial Markets and Sales from The University of Oklahoma. After completing his degree, he returned home to Ennis to pursue his passion for agriculture, founding Zajic Farms, a cattle operation that he began in college and successfully grew into a sustainable farming and ranching enterprise.

In 2024, Matthew married the love of his life, Haven, and the couple welcomed their first child later that same year. Deeply rooted in Ellis County, Matthew believes it has been a wonderful place to grow up, raise a family, and make a living. However, he also recognizes that there is always room for improvement — and that’s why he’s running for County Commissioner.

Matthew believes Ellis County deserves a representative who will stand firm under pressure, act with integrity, and put the interests of citizens first. As the county continues to grow, he understands that this growth brings both opportunities and challenges for residents, businesses, and first responders alike.

As a fiscal conservative, Matthew is committed to responsible budgeting, cutting wasteful spending, and ensuring that every tax dollar is used efficiently. He believes in smart growth that balances progress with preservation, fostering economic development while protecting the rural values and agricultural heritage that define Ellis County. His experience as a farmer and rancher has given him a deep appreciation for the land and the importance of sustainable stewardship.
